Hike leaders Rob MacDonald and Erik Boyer will guide this 6-mile, 3-hour hike on trails both old and new through Chapmans Landing, Iron Mine Brook, and the Indian Head River Trail.
The hike will start on the Chapmans Landing and Iron Mine Brook conservation areas, following both the Indian Head River and North River and eventually crossing Iron Mine Brook. This figure-8 loop will bring us back through the parking after about 3 miles, then to newly cut trails along the Indian Head River leading to Hanover, Hanson, and Plymouth County conservation lands, ending at Wildlands Trust's Tucker Preserve.
Meet at 9:30 AM in the Mass State Boat Launch parking lot at the end of Indian Head Drive in Hanover (use 2 Indian Head Dr, Hanover, MA 02339 for your GPS). Please be prepared with plenty of water, snacks, and wear long pants and sturdy footwear. We reserve the right to turn away hikers who arrive underprepared for the safety of yourself, our staff, and the group.
This hike is part of the Indian Head Coalition Trail Weekend, celebrating the opening of a new connector trail bridging the gap between Luddham's Ford and Iron Mine Brook / Chapmanās Landing. The North and South Rivers Watershed Association is hosting a Wild Rice Kayak Paddle on the river on Monday, 10/10/22 - learn more and register here.
The Indianhead Coalition is a partnership between the Wildlands Trust, the North and South Rivers Watershed Association, Plymouth County, and the Towns of Hanover, Pembroke, and Hanson.
