Press release from Kansas City Water: January 4, 2021 KC Water will host a virtual ceremony to celebrate the official start of construction for the KC Water Upgrades on Main project. This project, along Main Street between Pershing Road and 51st Street, not only replaces aging infrastructure, but also paves the way for the KC Streetcar Main Street Extension. ABOUT THE KC WATER UPGRADES ON MAIN PROJECT KC Water is working to replace century-old infrastructure along Main St. from Pershing Rd. to 51st Street. Contractors will be replacing and upgrading 21,492 linear feet of water mains and service lines. Contractors will also be rehabilitating over 33,000 linear feet of the sewer. Other upgrades include replacing the fire hydrants along the corridor, moving meters outside of buildings where possible, and surveying to find the old trolley track. This work not only replaces and updates aging infrastructure, but it also paves the way for KC Streetcar Extension on Main Street.
