Description
Status: Part-time, 20 hours per week, evenings and weekends, with flexibility to work additional hours for special events and holiday celebrations as needed. Pay Scale: $20 per hour Job Objectives: Manage a facilities task list; spot clean; staff events including setup & breakdown; food presentation & restocking; special projects as assigned. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. A background in event work is helpful but not required. Job Duties Kitchen: Regular cleaning in accordance with health code regulations, including mopping floors, sanitizing countertops, washing dishes, removing trash, compost and recycling Clean out fridges and freezers weekly Able to set up buffet of prepared foods Some light food prep may be required Facilities: Spot cleans and restocks bathrooms as needed Spot cleans offices, and public spaces regularly Remove trash, recycling and compost and replace liners regularly inside and outside Occasional off site errands (hardware store, laundromat etc) Maintains organizational systems and works to update and improve on existing systems Water all indoor and some outdoor plants as needed Clean staff kitchenette weekly, including wiping down counters, putting away and washing dishes, removing trash, recycling and compost Custodial & kitchen supply inventory and restocking Grounds Minor snow removal from emergency exits and clean up as needed after contractor completes initial clearing Minor grounds keeping as needed, including sweeping of courtyard and main entrance (Not responsible for lawn mowing or major leaf removal) Events: Responsible for spot cleaning, setting up, and breaking down for regular weekly services and programs Provide further facilities support during services and events, including helping with AV needs, replenishing buffet, etc. On site staff for events & services i.e. bus tables, replenish buffet, etc Other miscellaneous tasks as directed Required Skills and Experience: 2+ years experience in a similar position (or comparable experience) Ability to use a computer for email, event calendar, and maintenance requests Ability to communicate clearly and regularly with a wide range of people Ability to organize, plan, prioritize and follow through on work Ability to maintain professional image and maintain a clean, safe, and productive environment for staff and congregants Able to follow and support safety actions, policies, and procedures Willingness to understand and respect Jewish laws and practices as they relate to the position Ability to lift 50 pounds Reliable transportation Must be able to pass a background check Preferred: Some flexibility to work additional hours and days during peak times or during special projects Food service experience and/or familiarity with food safety protocols Typical Hours Wednesday 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm Friday (preparing for and working Friday evening Services) 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm Saturday (preparing for and working Saturday Services) 8:00 am - 2:00 pm Sunday 8:00 am -2:00 pm ** There is some flexibility to the hours/days listed above** **Opportunities exist to earn extra hours for special events and projects**
