Rensselaer County (New York) Board of Elections Commish arrested by FBI. The Rensselaer County Board of Elections Commissioner, Jason Schofield, has been arrested by the FBI. Schofield faced a judge on Tuesday, indicted on charges, accused of 12 counts of voter fraud. The indictment accuses him of unlawfully possessing, using the names and birth dates of voters to apply for absentee ballots he submitted to the New York State Board of Elections web site back in 2021. He's also accused of taking possession of absentee ballots issues to voters, having them sign the ballot, but not actually cast a vote, allowing Schofield or another person to cast votes in these voters’ names This includes the races in Rensselaer County’s primary and general elections held in 2021.
