Seems to plague the Republican party. On January 6, 2021, thousands of gullible, angry, delusional, and confused Trump supporters blindly followed his directions and violently attacked the seat of U.S. democracy believing blatant lies as their validation. They assaulted law enforcement, forcibly entered the Capitol, built gallows and chanted "Hang Mike Pence", and carried weapons and wrist ties with the goal of apprehending elected government official. Thankfully, the mass mental illness of Trump cult has been countered by the majority of true, patriotic Americans, in conjunction with our system of actual law and order, resulting in nearly 1,000 arrests, hundreds of guilty pleas and convictions, and increasingly longer prison sentences. Mental illness is a serious issue, and one which the Republican party ardently leverages to advance a fascist agenda led by a single sociopath. More thankfully, it's quickly coming to an end and the mental illness controlling the GOP will soon be little more than a tragic footnote in U.S. History.
