KENOSHA COUNTY, WI — An Illinois teen pleaded not guilty Tuesday to all charges in connection with shootings that left two men dead and one more injured amid protests in Kenosha in August. Kyle Rittenhouse, who turned 18 years old this past week, appeared for an arraignment held over Zoom while in the office of his lawyer, Mark Richards, Tuesday afternoon. Rittenhouse, of Antioch, Illinois, wore a light blue shirt, tie and black face mask and remained silent during the hearing. A pre-trial conference has now been set for March 10, and jury selection is set to start on March 29. The most serious charges, first-degree intentional homicide and first-degree reckless homicide, relate to the fatal shooting of Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, of Kenosha, and Anthony Huber, 26, of Silver Lake, Wisconsin. Rittenhouse also faces a charge of attempted first-degree intentional homicide regarding allegations he shot and wounded Gaige Grosskreutz, 26, of West Allis, Wisconsin. Rittenhouse is also charged with first-degree recklessly endangering safety, possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18 and failure to comply with emergency management orders of state or local government. Rittenhouse has claimed he acted in self-defense during the August shootings. He is currently free on bail.
