Tennis is one of the ball games. The effective tennis court is a rectangle, 23.77 meters long, 8.23 meters wide for singles and 10.97 meters wide for doubles. There is a net between them. Each side of the game occupies one side of the court. Players hit the ball with tennis rackets. Tennis was conceived in France, born in Britain, and reached its climax in the United States. It originated in France in the 12th-13th century. In the first modern Olympic Games held in Athens in 1896, the men's singles and doubles of tennis were listed as official competitions. Later, due to the differences between the International Olympic Committee and the International Tennis Federation on the issue of "amateur athletes", the tennis competitions of the seven consecutive Olympic Games were cancelled. It was not until the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games that tennis was listed as an Olympic sport. In 1988, at the Seoul Olympic Games, tennis was re listed as an official event.
