Oaklantis Swim School teachers provide a fun, positive learning environment while maintaining high standards for form and technique.
An Oaklantis Swim School teacher’s responsibilities include evaluating each student’s performance during swim sessions and providing feedback, helping to track each swimmer’s progress, and communicating with parents and supervisors when a swimmer is ready to move to the next level.
The successful swim school teacher will demonstrate patience, positivity, and enthusiasm, and will be able to motivate students to learn and maintain excellent form. They will also help each swimmer reach their personal swimming goals.
Job Responsibilities
- Preparing and delivering technical guidance, age-appropriate and skill-focused lessons that follow Oaklantis level progressions
- Assessing the progress of students
- Working as part of a team with other teachers, to provide the best possible experience for each swimmer in our program
- Helping to maintain an overall safe environment for the swimmers in their classes and for the Oaklantis Swimming community
Job Requirements
- Swimming experience (lessons or team)
- Sound knowledge of proper swimming techniques and water safety rules.
- Interest in and ability to teach children with a wide range of comfort and experience in the water.
- Ability to teach children as young as five years old and as old as 14 years old. Effective communication skills.
Desirable Experience
- Prior teaching experience (swimming or otherwise)
- Lifeguard certification
