Description

Rain Gardens can be an attractive and functional addition to any landscape. They slow and intercept the flow of storm water from rooftops and driveways and then allow that water to infiltrate back into the ground. Workshop participants will learn why rain gardens are important, how to design, site and build your rain garden, and how to landscape them with beautiful, low maintenance native plants. You’ll also learn about current water quality initiatives and rain garden-related resources from the City of Wilmington’s Heal Our Waterways Program. All participants will be entered into a drawing to win a free rain barrel! After the class we will tour demonstration rain gardens and other stormwater control measures at the New Hanover County Arboretum.
