Kansas City, Missouri; USA) have recently recorded their sophomore project as a band, and this is Logan Richardson’s sixth album as a leader. blues PEOPLE has been featured on NPR’s ‘Tiny Desk’ (2018), as well as topping out on the best 100 songs of the year for ‘Anthem (to Human Justice)’. In addition, blues PEOPLE was number three on the New York Times ‘Best Jazz Albums of 2018’ Since the release of the band first album simply entitled the band has toured, and performed, and administered workshops internationally presenting their 21st century, sci-fi themed, sonically 80’s, soundtrack for their fans, audiences, and students alike. Fall 2022 Logan and blues PEOPLE are set to release the new blues PEOPLE album • Warrior Of Light • the band goes deeper inside of their melodic storytelling, while riding the tide of rhythm’s that no matter how varying, creating a homogeneous medley of urgency, and sensuality while delivering airy sonics mixed with crunchy ground work from the ‘out of space’ rhythm section of Osypov, Schlamb, Lee, and Sanders who make up 4/5 of blues PEOPLE. With slicing solos, and heart wrenching melodies, Richardson redefines through his vocal essence of an alto saxophone, the meanings of how, when, and why. The upcoming release speaks to the strength, and integrity that one must have of the morality, and ethics that exist in the dark when no one is around. Are you a ‘Warrior Of Light’ Their rapport is tough and direct, more conducive to a snarling riff than to any flight of improvisational fancy. And while the blues are a focal point, there's an implicit critique of "authenticity" in this music; -Nate Chinen NPR MUSIC
