Join Sleeping Bear Dunes expert, Kerry Kelly, as he leads us through an exploration of the variety of habitats that exist within the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. He'll highlight the threatened or endangered species of plants, birds, and animals that you might find there, as well as identifying the current threats to these habitats from invasive species, climate change, and human development. Kerry's presentation will also point out the areas within the park that are federally designated as wilderness and how that designation affects the way you might experience those areas. About the Instructor Kerry Kelly is the Chairman of the Board for the Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes. He manages the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail and is involved as a volunteer in many other projects at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. He is a volunteer blacksmith at the park blacksmith shop in Glen Haven, MI and has taught several extended education classes for Northwest Michigan College about Sleeping Bear Dunes. Kerry grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin before attending UW-Madison, where he graduated with a BS in Chemistry. He worked for 30 years at Dow Chemical in Midland, MI.
