The primary function of the Shop General Laborer / Shop Helper is to assist the Shop Foreman. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Check in inventory & Deliveries • Ability to operate a forklift – Load & Unload trucks • Required to help out the shop technicians by chasing parts and assisting in any other needs. • Roll up all air hoses, extension cords and water hoses when not in use • Empty all garbage cans on a daily basis • Responsible to maintain and keep the yard and shop areas in a neat, clean and organized manner, as directed by the Shop Foreman • Must wear the approved shop uniform and boots • Check in/out equipment – Generators & Cables • Maintaining the standard and quality of service of the organization • Maintaining the proper function of all shop tools and equipment • Must keep all shop bays clean and neat, by sweeping on a regular basis. • Clean and detail facility and the interiors and exteriors of shop vehicles • Reporting any damage or accidents to the supervisor – Shop Foreman • Complete other maintenance tasks assigned by supervisor – Shop Foreman • May be required to work Saturdays and overtime during storm season • Other duties as needed and assigned by the Shop Foreman or Service Manager General Laborer/ Shop Helper Requirements: • Valid driver's license with a clean MVR • Some knowledge of heavy trucks and the trucking industry desirable • Have organization and communication skills • Must Have a High School diploma or GED • Have the ability to read and comprehend English instructions and information • Must have the ability to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis • Must have the ability to drive and run a forklift or be trained to do so • Forklift Certification a plus! • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions • Subject to a drug screen WORKING CONDITIONS This position is physically demanding. Will lift various things the weigh up to 50lbs. Will stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, handle and feel. Will be exposed to noise, dust, exhaust fumes, and a variety of other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Must climb in and out of customers vehicles and up and down ladders.
