ELMHURST, IL — The Elmhurst School District 205 board is closing its doors for the first meeting of 2021. The virtual meeting is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday. Residents are allowed to take part in public comment before the closed session either in writing or through a new Zoom platform. According to the meeting agenda, the board is meeting for discussions of specific employees, union negotiations and litigation. The school board holds closed sessions at nearly all of its regular meetings, but rarely holds a meeting in which such a session is the only purpose. Under the state's open meetings law, a board can only discuss limited issues during closed sessions. Most business must be discussed in public.
