BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Bucks County plans to open coronavirus testing sites on three college campuses starting next week. The sites, scheduled to open Monday, Jan. 11, will hopefully be turned into vaccination sites once the COVID-19 vaccine becomes more widely available, county Chief Operating Officer Margie McKevitt told the commissioners on Monday. The sites will be at Delaware Valley University in Doylestown and Bucks County Community College's campuses in Bristol and Perkasie, McKevitt said. According to McKevitt, the testing sites will be open seven days a week and are scheduled to be open for at least 21 days. She said more locations for testing, and, ultimately, vaccinations, could be opened in the future. The hours for the locations will be: Delaware Valley University, 700 E. Butler Ave., Doylestown: 10 a.m.-7 p.m.BCCC Lower Bucks Campus, 1304 Veterans Hwy., Bristol: Sun.-Thurs., 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 2-8 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.BCCC Upper Bucks Campus, 1 Hillendale Rd., Perkasie: 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Those seeking tests should wear a mask and bring their cellphone, if they have one, according to McKevitt. She said they also should bring their insurance information if they are insured. "Although you don't need insurance to get a test, if you have it, please bring it with you," she said. Bucks County has created on online portal for COVID-19 vaccine information on its website. As of Monday morning, 6,044 people in Bucks County had received the first of two doses of the COVID vaccine, according to state information on the portal. The county currently is the Phase 1A, the earliest phase, of its vaccine plan. During that phase, vaccinations are being given to healthcare workers and staff at nursing homes and other longterm care facilities, according to the portal.
