About the role: The primary responsibilities of the Shop Hand are cleaning and supplying designated building areas, heavy cleansing tasks, performing and documenting routine inspection of the facilities and maintenance activities, and assisting with machine shop operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Daily cleaning (i.e. sanitizing common areas, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning, taking out the trash etc.). • Assist with day to day machine shop operations. • Learn to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and other materials. • Prepare and package items for shipment. • Deliver and pickup parts, materials, supplies, etc. as required and/or directed. • Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance and uniform at all times. • Be extremely punctual and always arrive at the worksite early. • SAFELY load/unload equipment onto vehicles/trailers and pickup/drop off items as needed. • Operate a forklift (or be able to obtain certification). • SAFELY use band saws, automatic, semi-automatic, and manual cold saws, mills, shears, hydraulic brakes, and plasma cutters as required. • Comply with all applicable company, state, and federal safety manuals/policies. • Perform general facility/building cleaning maintenance to include installation of drywall. • Ensure mechanical equipment is in working order and repaired as necessary. • Be a Jack of all trades and have a can-do attitude. • Additional handyman responsibilities as needed. • Run errands. • Other duties as may be assigned. Requirements and Qualifications: • US Citizenship is required. • Veterans preferred. • Must have a working knowledge in safely operating hand, power tools, and machine tools. • Must possess a valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record verified by the DMV. • Good verbal and written communication skills, initiative and self-motivation. Education/Experience: • High School diploma. • Two-year technical degree or trade school equivalent preferred. • Fork lift license preferred or will train. • Demonstrated success in providing exceptional support services to a team. • Demonstrated ability to exceed expectations and maintain a high level of enthusiasm. • Proven ability to do the little things and go the extra mile that makes a big difference. Physical Requirements: • Safely lift up to 50lbs with both hands and without the use of a forklift. • Position includes sitting, standing, bending, walking, lifting, climbing, climb stairs, crawling, finger, wrist, elbow & arm coordination/movement that is consistent with customary tools and equipment in a manufacturing environment including but not limited to power and hand tools. Hours: Full-time, hourly, non-exempt, year-round. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Pay Range: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour, commensurate to relevant, documented experience.
