Press release from the Minneapolis Police Department: January 3, 2021 December 31, 2020 (MINNEAPOLIS) – On December 30th at 6:15 pm, Minneapolis Police Officers were engaged in a weapons investigation. In the course of their work, the initiated a traffic stop on the 3500 block of Cedar Avenue South. Shots were exchanged between the suspect and the officers. The suspect died at the scene. No officers were physically injured in this incident. In continued efforts to increase trust with our community, Chief Arradondo has made the unprecedented decision to release officer body worn camera video within 24 hours of this incident. This was done to further aid efforts in understanding and fostering transparency.
