Big Rock provides tailored project solutions in the mining industry by providing clients with reliable expertise, along with dependable staff. What are we looking for? Big Rock Exploration is looking for a Geotechnician that is responsible for assisting our field team of Geologists at various field projects throughout North America. Projects are located in various locations and states, so travel is required. General field labor responsibilities include but are not limited to collecting of rock and soil samples, preparing samples for shipment, field mapping, and claim staking. Essential Functions: • Work with drillers and team of geologists on receiving core samples and assist in preparing to be shipped off to the laboratory for analyzing • Wash drill core samples, photograph, use rock saw to cut samples • Organize, package, and label samples to prepare for shipping to lab • Assist in field mapping, soil sampling/collection, and claim staking while hiking • Ensure a safe workplace environment by attending daily safety and toolbox meetings, follow all safety related directives and procedures, communicate any safety hazards, and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) • Clean and organize equipment and machinery to ensure proper upkeep and maintenance • Safely operate both on and off-road vehicles • Any additional duties and/or projects assigned by the Project Manager Job Requirements: • Must be able to travel 75% of time and work a 3 week on/1 week off schedule or one similar in nature • Must be able to lift/push/pull at least 50 lbs. • Must be able to sit, stand, and hike for extended periods of time • Strong communication and organizational skills • Must have basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office • No felonies (For work in Canada) • Must be 18 years of age or older • Must have a valid driver’s license and a working mobile phone at all times Certifications: • First Aid/CPR Training (May obtain with Big Rock) • MSHA Training preferred About Big Rock Exploration • Big Rock Exploration is comprised of Owners, Directors, Employees, and Independent Contractors.
