First screening review is scheduled for: 09/19/2022 Starting Salary: $35,610 to $39,312 annually, dependent on education and experience Details: Lake Tahoe Community College District (LTCC) announces an opportunity to work full-time with the Maintenance and Operations team as a Custodian/Groundskeeper. This position will perform standard custodial work to clean and maintain buildings Sunday through Thursday, day shift. The main focus of this position will be to clean assigned areas based on LTCC's standards, to be trained upon hire. Grounds keeping work, if any, will be minimal and usually only performed when working the weekend shift. Snow removal will be required as needed. These applicants will be notified by phone or email on or about Thursday, September 22, 2022. Successful candidates will then be interviewed by a committee of 3 to 5 individuals; these interviews are tentatively scheduled for Monday, October 3, 2022. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee an interview. LTCC reserves the right to return to the applicant pool at any point during the recruitment process. COMPENSATION: Salary Range: LTCC offers a competitive compensation package that includes a starting placement salary of $35,610 to $39,312 annually, dependent on education and experience. There is potential to reach $45,626 annually, through step advancement plus longevity when appropriate. In addition to base salary, this position qualifies for extra bilingual (Spanish), masters or doctorate pay. Benefits: Health and Welfare benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and long term disability. Several plan options maintain a zero monthly premium cost from the employee and include full coverage of a gold-level medical plan that, on average, covers 80% of healthcare expenses for a standard population. LTCC also matches 25.37% of an eligible employee's salary and contributes it into a CalPERS pension account for qualifying employees. Work-Life Balance: This positions is 40 hours per week and 12 months per year, including summer and winter hours. Hours are expected to be Sunday-Thursday, day and weekend shift - with some night requirements, hours may vary according to the needs of the program. Snow removal will be required as needed. This position is eligible for overtime compensation (non-exempt). LTCC provides 16 paid holidays per year plus 12 days vacation (with the potential to reach 24 days through years of service) and 12 days of paid sick leave per year. Furthermore, LTCC has made a commitment to full closures during holidays and several weekends adjoining holidays to provide employees the ability to take advantage of holiday and vacation usage. Preferred start date: 09/19/2022 Description: Under the direction of the Director of Facilities perform grounds, gardening and standard custodial work to clean and maintain buildings and grounds. Representative Duties: Maintain campus grounds; plant, water, cultivate, weed, fertilize, cut and trim lawns, shrubs, trees and flower beds; construct and maintain planter boxes and beds; install, maintain and repair sprinkler and irrigation systems; pick up trash; remove debris; remove snow from walkways, driveways and bike trails; remove ice pack. Clean assigned area; clean restrooms; sweep, mop and wax floors; clean mirrors and windows; clean office areas; empty trash; move, arrange and clean office furniture; vacuum carpets and floors; perform basic maintenance; fix loose carpet, broken windows and doors and make adjustments to equipment as needed; report maintenance and repair problems to supervisor; store equipment and supplies. Monitor walkways for unsafe conditions; clear hazards; operate trucks, snow plows, snow blowers and other snow removal equipment; open and secure buildings; walk through building; lock doors and windows; set alarms; assist with and set up special functions and events; assist other maintenance personnel as requested; deliver supplies and paper goods as needed; perform related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to: two years groundskeeping experience. Knowledge of: Grounds keeping and custodial practices, procedures and equipment. Proper methods, techniques, materials, tools and equipment used in grounds and custodial work. Common plants, shrubs, trees and grass care and maintenance. Cleaning methods for floors, carpets, furniture, walls and fixtures. Proper safety precautions for chemicals and cleaning supplies used in custodial work. Safe handling of grounds and custodial equipment. Methods and techniques for storing equipment, materials and supplies. Ability to: Clean and maintain college facilities and grounds. Use grounds and custodial materials, equipment and methods safely, efficiently and according to pre-determined standards. Maintain tools and equipment assigned in clean working order. Perform heavy manual labor. Understand and follow oral and written directions. Communicate effectively with others. Learn and apply the rules and regulations of the assigned area. Additional Requirement (Licensure/Certification): Valid State driver’s license and acceptable driving record for insurability by the District’s insurance carrier.
