Gathering of kite addicts on snow Hello Ladies and Gents! Covid or no-covid, we're gonna ride February19-21! Please don't attend if you are ill or have had a close positive contact within the previous 14 days prior to the event . That's why things will be a little different this year..... The only indoor event we're gonna have this year is the gear swap on Friday night from 7-11 at the Givingwings Aviation Hangar. This will be a socially distanced, masks optional and do-what-you-need-to-protect-yourself event. At the gear swap, you can check in and get your raffle tickets, event t-shirt, bib number, ect. All other events will be held outside at Bingham boat launch on Lake Leelanau. The drawings and event award ceremony will be held under an outdoor tent set up on the ice. We will have some fire pits to keep warm if it gets too cold. We are raffling off a snowkite again this year so that is pretty exciting! We have some great sponsors lined up as well as catered lunch (individual lunch boxes from Honey Baked Ham Company) compliments of MACkite Boardsports. We also have some great events planned: Kite race, high jump contest, freestyle contest, freeride, and new this year-community education (where people from the community can sign up for a trainer-kite/gear set-up lesson). We want to share this awesome sport and welcome newcomers as best we can. Cost: Entry fee for the event is $30 before February 1 and $35 after February 1. This entry fee gets you: an event t-shirt, a bib number for the comptetitions, individual box lunch, 1 raffle ticket for the snowkite (Flysurfer 8m Peak4 +control bar) (over $1,200 value, 5 swag tickets. It is free to come out to the event and ride, but if you want to participate in the competitions there is an entry fee. All raffle and entry fee proceeds will ensure that the Snowkite Jam remains a premier Midwest event year after year. You can submit a paypal payment for the early-bird fee to [email protected]. When using paypal or personal check, please indicate in the comment section or include a note letting us know what you are paying for ( i.e. $40-- 1 early-bird fee + 1 extra raffle ticket) so that we can record it.
