Phoenix Habitats is seeking a passionate, environmentally motivated individual to join our team! This is a part time Habitat Restoration Technician position starting immediately in September. Job responsibilities include all manners of habitat restoration field work, including hand pulling, mowing and cutting with electric tools, herbicide application, and planting native plants. Depending on experience, additional office work experience may include project planning and management, coordination with native plant nurseries, and social media outreach. This is a great opportunity for a student or other talented and ambitious individual to learn all aspects of habitat restoration work and bring that knowledge forward into a career of environmental stewardship. You will learn and practice direct, hands-on field work and vegetation management, native and invasive plant identification and ecology, essential aspects of native planting design and project management, and knowledge of the larger environmental community in the Willamette Valley that contextualizes and influences this work. Experience On-the-job training is provided in all tasks, and individuals of all experience levels are encouraged to apply. Reimbursement Hourly wages range from $18 to $21/hr, depending on experience. Additional pay raises will occur annually or upon acquiring job-related licenses and certificates. Specific Job Requirements This Habitat Restoration Technician will primarily perform field work associated with habitat restoration projects. The position requires physical effort or manual labor such as lifting, carrying (up to 50 pounds), or constant movement while carrying or wearing tools for long distances on steep or uneven terrain. This also includes job situations where speed, agility, and hand eye coordination and equipment operations are a continual requirement. A personal vehicle is required for transportation to our office for carpooling or directly to job sites. Job Types: Part-time, Internship Salary: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour, depending on experience. Schedule: 8 hour shift, 2-3 days a week. A consistent weekly schedule is preferred, but can be flexible to accommodate half days or changing weekdays, as needed. Other Requirements: A driver's license and personal transportation are required for work on project sites or the company office. Carpools from our office will be offered most days.
