DOYLESTOWN, PA — If you haven't already, it's time to start thinking about how to get rid of that Christmas tree in your home. While most Christmas tree fires occur between Christmas and New Year's Day, the risk remains high after the new year as trees dry out, according to the National Fire Protection Association. You can help prevent fires by watering your tree to prevent it from drying out. Make sure you remove any wires, lights, tinsel and other decorations from your tree before disposing it. Doylestown Borough residents can drop off their trees at the designated area outside the gate of the Doylestown Borough Public Works facility at 300 Harvey Avenue. Doylestown Township can drop off their trees at the leaf and yard waste recycling site on New Britain Road at the entrance of Central Park. In Buckingham Township, you can bring your tree to the parking lot of the Buckingham Township Water Department Building at 4124 Mechanicsville Road. New Britain Township is collecting Christmas trees for recycling at West Branch Park, located off of Schoolhouse Road between Cedar Hill Road or North Branch Park on Park Avenue. Areas are marked for where trees should be placed. The drop off runs through Jan. 29. There is no cost to residents.
