Description

This year's Gainesville Latino Film Festival promises something for everyone, including music and cultural events as well as films. The festival will be held at different venues throughout Gainesville from Sept. 8 to Sept. 18. All events are free and open to the public. Among the festival highlights is the Afro-Cuban dance group IFÉ-ILÉ, which will perform African and Latin American dances and music. Another noteworthy event is the Noche de Baile! concert starring Gilberto de Paz & TROPIX, a Latin-music band that gets people on their feet with salsa, merengue, cumbia, and bachata music, among other genres. The Spanish Immersion storytelling program for children returns to the Tower Road Library. During the month of September, P.K. Yonge students will read children's stories in both languages, Spanish and English, every Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. El festival de cine presenta películas para jóvenes y adultos de todos los países latinoamericanos, como también danzas afro-cubanas del grupo IFÉ-ILÉ. Para celebrar bailando, tendremos un concierto de música latina, con el grupo Gilberto de Pay & TROPIX. Para los niños vamos a tener “La hora del cuento” con cuentos para niños en inglés y español leído por estudiantes de secundaria del colegio P.K. Yonge. Todos los sábados, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. en la biblioteca Tower Road. Son dos semanas de festival en diferentes lugares de la ciudad.
