Description
The weather has turned here in Maine and autumn is upon us. While for many this means a change in wardrobe, back to school, and an eye toward the sky for hints of early snow; for others, it is the unmistakable start to hunting season. The history of hunting and fishing in Maine is robust. In 1897, Cornelia “Fly Rod” Crosby was the first person ever to receive a Maine Guides license. Crosby had discovered her love of nature when a doctor advised her to seek “a large dose of the outdoors” which then prompted her to leave her desk job at a bank. A move to Rangeley followed and she became well-known throughout the state and beyond for her writings and passion for the outdoors; attracting out-of-state enthusiasts to Maine’s woods and streams. As she was once quoted "I am a plain woman of uncertain age, standing six feet in my stockings...I scribble a bit for various sporting journals, and I would rather fish any day than go to heaven." It is with a nod to “Fly Rods” passion for Maine and all its glorious natural offerings that we gather once again for our Wild Game Dinner at Tops’l Farm. Limited to 50 spots - so don't delay if you are interested in securing a spot for the dinner. Tickets are $100 each and include a welcome drink & snack around the fire, a coursed meal, and tax/gratuity for the meal portion of your evening. Additional beverages can be purchased at the dinner.
