The Department of Medicine of Columbia University Irving Medical Center is proud to inaugurate a new series of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion cultural events that are meant to showcase, celebrate, and joyfully center the very communities that we serve and that nourish us.
Our first event will include an artist talk by AfroDominican York artist, Yelaine Rodriguez, and the premiere of her new short film Babalú Ayé y La Negra del Hospital, along with live Palo traditional Dominican sacred drumming.
In addition to the cultural Art described above, this event will include our joint effort with the National Black Empowerment Council, Fresh Direct, and other community leaders in a panel discussion about food insecurity in the Black and Latino communities, and how to bring solutions to this disparity.
