pray and break bread (pbb).NYC is one of City Seminary of New York's core practices. Each year we visit different neighborhoods in the five boroughs for a time of learning from ministry leaders, Scripture reading, prayer walking, and eating food specific to each neighborhood. As we journey together, we come to know and love our city more, build community, and experience God's presence in the city in ways we might not otherwise notice. This year we will focus on the theme Dream for the Peace of the City. What is God’s dream for us, for our neighborhoods, our city, and our world? How will God work in ways we imagine or in ways beyond our imagination in the coming year? How will we dream as individuals and together for the flourishing of our churches and communities, for peace that passes all understanding? We will begin the academic year with our annual pbb.WHERE YOU ARE NYC on September 13, 2022 - inviting participants to pray from their own neighborhood and share this time over Zoom or in solidarity (sharing photos and prayer requests over Facebook). For the rest of the year, we will join in person as our neighborhood hosts introduce us to their communities. Each pbb will end with a time of breaking bread together at a local eatery.
