Description
Betsy was at the shelter too long so we decided to foster her. These are our observations: * loves to go for leisurely walks but also clearly loves cookies 🍪 * perfect for leisurely walks. She walks beside you without pulling on the leash. She ignores other dogs that walk by. She greets humans with a tail wag (Except for the one guy who startled both of us by stepping out from behind a bush - she did bark at him) * she loves treats but takes them gently from your hand. * no accidents in the house! (We do have a doggy door) * she knows how to use a dog door but stays mostly inside. * tolerant of both our small dog and our large dog. She mostly ignores them. She would probably be fine as an only dog or in a home with other dogs. * has not yet tried to get on the furniture. * loves water (the retriever part) she will even stick her head under water. Seems to enjoy getting a bath. The only struggle is getting her chunky self in and out of the tub :-) * The first night she was clean in the crate with some low level whining. But she’s so good inside we have not crated her since then. * she likes to stay right beside you and has always come when been called. Not much opportunity for a recall because she tends not to leave your side. * she loves pats and snuggles. She is a very affectionate gal. * she does not appear to be jumper or door dasher She was indifferent to cats. She would probably be just fine in a home with cats. We haven’t noticed any prey drive at all. She does not even care to chase squirrels with the other two dogs. We really feel like this gentle girl would be an easy fit into most homes. She has been such a good dog here. We are totally perplexed why she she has spent over a month in the shelter with no takers. maybe it’s just because she needs to lose a few pounds. I am unable to foster her too much longer and so I’m really hoping she can be adopted before she hast to be returned!! Even though they get good care is very stressful for them. They never understand why they’ve been abandoned. Betsy is a 3 to 5 year old labrador mix. (We think maybe with border collie) She has been spayed vaccinated and micro chipped. Her adoption fee is only $20. If you can’t adopt her would you consider fostering her? If you have questions about her please contact me but if you have questions about her adoption you will need to call or visit the Joplin Humane Society.
