Description

We believe change happens in two steps; awareness followed by action. "Colors of the Earth" is an educational evening, hosted by Hanoux and Desdemona Dallas, focused on handmade textiles and process oriented clothing making. All artists involved are utilizing regenerative and biodegradable materials to create their collections. In conversation with those dedicated to the sustainability of fashion's future, we discuss the various ways in which designers can make a difference. Alongside the release of Plant Skin's fashion film created in Hudson Valley, the night will feature a curation of art and documentary films. Each film will be carefully selected for its message in sustainability and textile arts. As big companies utilize large scale production, bespoke textile makers are reviving traditional methodologies to reintroduce a love and appreciation for the textiles they wear. Talk, learn and discuss how we can save these dying art forms through sustainable practices and modern application of ancient traditions and techniques. The evening at Arcadia Earth will include: ~ Ethically made clothing market of NY designers ~ Panel Discussion on sustainable textiles ~ Curation of short films 4:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday September 15th This is a free, in person event Guests of the event will recieve a 25% discount to Arcadia Earth :: PARTICIPATING ARTISTS :: Cara Marie Piazza ~ Natural and Artisanal Dyer @caramariepiazza Cara Marie Piazza is a Natural Dyer and artisan working in new york city.
