Our upcoming relaxed discussion session is on Saturday, September 24 from 3:30-4:30PM at Peers Park in Palo Alto.
We decided to switch it up with a film called “The Troublemaker”. It is available for free streaming on WaterBear (a website for documentaries) or Amazon with a Prime membership.
About the film:
“In times of crisis we get to find out who we really are.
‘The Troublemaker’ delves deep into the ideas and emotions behind the international wave of civil protest that has emerged in response to the unfolding climate crisis. The pandemic has shown how fast and how far we can move when faced with a global threat. The film asks the simple question: if the science is right on climate change, what should you do?
Facing up to crisis, transforming yourself by overcoming a seemingly insurmountable threat, is THE archetypal story of human civilization. But this time the threat is global and may prove fatal. Now that we understand more about what a ‘global crisis’ feels like, it can no longer be ignored. This is our opportunity to live life without lies, a life that offers both resilience and joy through the power of collective action.”
If you sign up for book club updates via engageon.org/book-club, I’ll be sending some discussion questions before our actual meeting prior to the 24th and feel free to come with some relevant articles and questions that pertain to climate activism or politics. Hope to see you there!
