BOOK FESTIVAL INTRO
Greetings from the Annual Cheraw Black Author's Lab and Book Festival! My name is Michael Strong. My niece Erica Malachi, a Cheraw native, my cousin Clay Scott born in Hamlet, NC and I decided to create the Cheraw Black Author's Lab and host a Book Festival in honor of Black History Month. The ticket only event is open to the public. Activities include story telling, poetry, spoken word, jazz, books for sale, meet and greet with the authors and a writer's workshop.
Last year's featured authors William Davis of Chapel Hill, NC (Falling Apples), Tara Thompson, Charlotte, NC (Divided Souls), and Dr. Sandra Ingram, Winston Salem, NC (Before You Pray Again) all lit up the audience with their art and works.
We felt it was appropriate that four authors with southern local roots (Cheraw, Wallace, Hamlet, NC and Burlington, NC) choose the birthplace of the late great Dizzy Gillespie to launch our project.
The Black Authors Lab and Book Festival is a subsidiary of LynnMark Solutions Inc, A non profit 501 C3. That means all your donations are tax deductible.
