Description

Join us for an evening with best-selling author Clarisse A. Jordan to discuss her book, "Life After ... An Anthology." "Life After ..." , published by Love Wins Publishing, is an anthology of powerful stories written by individuals living with HIV/AIDS. The book takes you on their journeys as they navigate the struggles of stigma and the challenges of a complex health and mental healthcare systems; and the unfortunate setbacks they have faced physically and mental because of the virus. In spite of these overwhelming circumstances, these people show that it is possible to live with HIV and to live fully - that there is, indeed, life after an HIV diagnosis. As part of the evening, there will be a panel discussion on the importance of linking people to medical care after an HIV diagnosis and how adherence to a care regimen will allow people to live healthy, successful lives with HIV. Panelists include: Dr. Sarah McBeth, Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine UPMC and medical director of Allies for Health + Wellbeing; Deborah Dennison, University of Pittsburgh, HIV Health Educator, Infectious Diseases and Microbiology; Rev. Brenda Gregg, Destiny of Faith Church and founder of the Destiny Project. This event is hosted in part by Allies for Health + Wellbeing, formerly the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force. Allies' mission is to improve health and wellbeing by providing integrated medical care, supportive human services, and community-based education for individuals living with, or at risk of HIV, viral hepatitis, and sexually transmitted infections. Sponsorship is generously provided by Gilead Sciences. Suggested donation for this event is $20, and attendees will receive a copy of "Life After ... An Anthology."
