Guitarist Seeking Drums & Bass + Keys, Horns to Form Original Band

Description
I am a versatile and experienced lead & rhythm guitarist (+ lap steel) and singer looking to connect with a drummer, bass player, and possibly keys/second guitar to form a band playing original blues-based rock, with hints of country, soul, funk, rockabilly, and jazz mixed in. Horns are welcome too! The goal is to write and perform original music. This will not be a cover band, though we may play some select covers that we do in our own way. We do not need to fit the music into any particular genre or category and will be free to reach across different styles to make something representing a mixture of the members' interests and influences. I am looking to create something that really grooves and allows the band and audience get carried away in the experience. I have written a number of songs, some instrumentals and some in need of lyrics. I can sing lead and harmony vocals. I can play improvised guitar solos all night and I have great gear to get the sounds I like. I'm not simply looking for a vehicle to get up and shred, though; I'm looking to create a BAND, a group of equals having a musical conversation and creating something that is larger than any one individual. Yes, lofty words, but why not go for it? I work full-time, so I can get together evenings and weekends for this project. Ideally, you should: - be very comfortable on your instrument yet still seeking to learn and grow; - have reliable professional gear; - be a good listener with good dynamics, knowing when to come on strong and when to lay back/out; - hopefully be able to sing at least some background vocals (lead would be a plus); and - be pretty easygoing and easy to work with. If you have written songs, that's excellent. If are a good singer, that's a big plus, because my voice is not my primary instrument. If you happen to have a P.A, that would really be awesome. The initial goal is to first find the right players with the right fit through talking and jamming and then to get down to collaborating on the project. The next step is to put together a strong set of originals with perhaps a cover or two as needed and to arrange and rehearse until things are cooking. The ultimate goal is to take it out and play venues in and around Austin, add additional sets, and then see where it goes (though that would be a sufficient end in and of itself). This will involve dedication and individual/group work, but it also has to be FUN. It should be something we all look forward to spending time on and that inspires us to be creative. There should be give and take among the band members in working out material and we all need to respect one another. I do not care about your age, sex, race, looks, politics or any of that - I want to make great music. If you have samples of your playing to send, that would be great, but not necessary. Let me know if this sounds interesting and let's talk.
