I would like to see lifetime government service abolished. Congress should not be in office indefinitely (I know we have the right to vote them out but once they are in we just re-elect them based on name recognition, not worthiness). Judges should not have lifetime jobs either. They are not even elected, they are appointed. The appointment process is where the political manipulation takes place and the results of that last for decades. Yes, I understand the premise that judges need to be protected from the whims of politics but a 10 or 20 year term would suffice...NOT lifetime. Limited service would serve us better because when they are in office decade after decade their thinking becomes calcified. Society moves on and evolves, they do not. Age limits and term limits make sense.
