Description

Award-winning journalist Jemele Hill was raised in Detroit and found solace in writing at an early age that led her on a career path from newspaper reporter and columnist to the anchor of ESPN's SportsCenter.   It was at ESPN in 2017 that she faced threats from the White House after sending tweets that were critical of President Trump.   She will join us to reflect on her life and career as she continuously worked to amplify her voice. Jemele Hill is a contributing writer at The Atlantic and the host of the podcast Unbothered with Jemele Hill.  She is an Emmy Award-winning journalist and a former anchor of ESPN's SportsCenter. All registered in person attendees will be given a FREE copy of the book (one per patron). There will not be a book signing following the program. Seating is general admission, first come, first served. ASL interpretation will be available for attendees. Free parking vouchers are available to program attendees who park at the Franklin Street Garage (15 W. Franklin Street) after 4pm. Ask Pratt event staff for your parking voucher prior to or after the program. The Brown Lecture Series is supported by a generous grant from the Eddie C. and C. Sylvia Brown Foundation.
