James Hillman, the widely respected radical re-thinker and self-described "renegade psychologist", concluded that therapy needs to change the world rather than focus on people's inner lives.
In a talk he gave in 2011, he shared, “Sometimes the psyche upsets us in order for us to go further with our lives. A person goes to therapy because of a symptom, a problem, an upset. The question is not so much how to get rid of that but to ask 'Why is this disturbance coming in my life? What does it want? What kind of a life have I got that it needs this disturbance?'" What if we bring this reverent curiosity and inquiry to what the pandemic has brought to our lives, personally and collectively?
During this inspiring evening, we’ll explore where we’ve been over the past few years, where we are now, and where we’re going as individuals and as a community. We’ll inquire about all of this and more through a lens of experiential embodiment and with an understanding of inter-being, as we begin again, personally and collectively, after 2.5 years, honoring the lessons that come along with it. We’ll explore our evolving understanding of wellness; we’ll look at the personal and global symptoms calling us to our true work in the world; and we’ll explore embodying our unique genius in relation to it all.
You’ll leave feeling at least half a shade braver and much more embodied, resourced to meet your life wholeheartedly.
