We will explore why these concepts are no longer valid, as well as discuss where organizations should focus their efforts to create impact and lessen the likelihood of serious injuries. Learning Outcomes: 1. Understand that theory related to accident causation and managing safety has evolved to better address preventing SIF’s/F&LC’s. 2. Identify some long-held industry beliefs that have been recently debunked. 3. Understand why the past does not necessarily predict the future with regard to SIF’s/F&LC’s. 4. Recognize those situations and conditions that most often trigger or cause SIF’s/F&LC’s. 5. Identify basic strategies that can help an organization identify and respond appropriately to risk.
