Description
Join The Institute for Art and Olfaction team and fellow perfume-makers to explore perfumery and your skills in blending, as we dig into the scents of stonefruit and the orchard in a noses and hands-on session. The workshop will start with smelling, where the assembled participants will discuss the pre-curated selection of aromatic materials. We'll focus on the similarities and differences, and discuss possible uses for each aromatic. After our time spent smelling, each participant will choose materials to blend with; after a round of guided blending, students are free to explore their own blending exercises. We'll take time to share blends and discuss our intentions and process. Finally, we'll smell some fine fragrances deploying different smells of the orchard: fruits, wood, earth, and more. This workshop presents a great opportunity to understand an aromatic category through its materials, by tackling what can be, for many, a challenging aromatic accord. This is a hands-on session that covers more intermediate topics in perfumery. While all are welcome, some experience blending aromatics is recommended. TAKE-AWAYS - Guided time smelling relevant fine fragrances - An introduction to relevant and useful aromatic materials - Guided lab time for blending materials - 5 x 3/5 dram vials of selected materials - A spray vial of the blend composed in class as well as its formula COVID POLICY FOR IN PERSON CLASSES We understand that people have different feelings about masks and vaccines.
