We love sweet things! Do you? Do you like to wear them on your skin? The gourmand category is often maligned as childish and cheap, but we're here to present an alternate opinion. Over two hours, we will explore 12 important gourmand materials, as well as some real world examples from our collection of historic perfumes. We will also deconstruct a gourmand accord, leading to a better sense of the technicalities of perfumery. The workshop will start with one hour of smelling, where the assembled participants will discuss our pre-curated selection of gourmand materials as well as some perfumes on the market that demonstrate the material in use. We'll focus on the similarities and differences, and discuss possible uses for each aromatic. After our time spent smelling, we will deconstruct a gourmand accord, smelling each component individually and in combination. Everyone will leave with a better appreciation for the suprisingly odd scents of sweetness. This session presents a great opportunity to understand an aromatic category through its materials. While all are welcome, some experience blending aromatics is recommended. ATTENDANCE All levels are welcome, but our sessions are 18 and up. LOCATION We are located in Los Angeles’ historic Chinatown neighborhood, on a pedestrian street that also hosts galleries, souvenir shops, production companies, design studios, and two very cool parrots. We’ll miss you, but will 100% refund your spot, or give you credit for another class. – Refunds or class credits requested less than 14 days before the scheduled sessipn: We will refund you 50% of your class fee. Why? Because we’ve already ordered the materials. – Refunds or class credits requested less than 48 hours before the class, on the day of the class or after the class has happened will not be granted. The exception to this, of course, is if you have been exposed to Covid-19, or are feeling symptoms yourself. - Cancellations or refund requests must be made by email or via the Eventbrite 'request refund' option.
