What is a Ruck March?
A ruck march involves walking at a fast clip with a weighted backpack. In the Armed Forces, participants carry at least 45 lbs. in their ruck, in addition to all their military gear.
For this event we ask participants to march/walk a 2.2-mile course while carrying 22 pounds or 22 food or personal items.
Why 22?
Every day 22 veterans commit suicide in the United States. We carry '22' to show our support for veterans in crisis or need and their families.
All personal items and food collected will be donated to the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 154 to be used to support veterans and their families. All monies will be donated to local organizations that support vets in need.
Go to romi.gov/ruck22 for more information, including a list of suggested items to carry in your ruck or backpack.
Entry fee is $22 for adults; FREE for active and retired military and children 10 and under*
