Snake Breeders need assistant | Long-Term & Possible Live On-Site (Elk Grove) We are currently looking for someone to help us grow our small reptile farm & overall property landscape; The individual we desire to find must be self-motivated and must have the ability to perform tasks without constant supervision. (** Possible live ON-SITE opportunity; This is not a requirement, however, may be an option to the right candidate; There is a trailer on the property, and it can be negotiated if it will assist you and the farm overall; If we find the right long-term candidate, we will build a tiny house on the property FOR YOU) We are a small family business. We have our children on the property and ONLY are in search of a respectful & well-mannered individual to help us. As we grow, we anticipate separating out certain jobs (listed below) to other workers, however, currently we only have enough work for one full time individual. Job Scope | Full Time: Our property has a lot of potential. We just need someone that is well-rounded to help us grow our vision. The job does not pay a lot; however, it will be consistent. We can possibly offer an increase in pay as our farm grows (YOY) and as we see that the individual that we hire is a good fit. We plan on building another snake facility 2,500 sf in 2023. --------Job Scope----- Animal Care: Tending to our reptile collection. Cleaning cages, washing tubs, water bowls & keeping the facilities sanitary & presentable etc. Sanitation is a big thing. To Clean each individual-enclose our helper is required to USE a different set of gloves for each enclosure. Latex gloves will be provided of course. We use deli cups for waters and Freedom Breeder equipment for caging. We are non-venomous snake breeders. You MUST NOT be afraid of snakes. We breed rare high-end Boids. Our snakes and rodent facility are our number one priority on the property. Their immediate care comes first. Anything additional work / hours on our property will only be allotted after the daily maintenance is completed. Our collection is not extremely large (yet), so we can only provide a few hours a day of work on this, however, if you have other skills and can-do labor (below) then it could be an overall fit. We would prefer that the individual has at least some experience with snakes, rodents or at least reptiles in general. Your primary job will be caring for the snakes and the rodent facility. Ensuring we meet quota for rodent production to feed all of our snakes is highly important. Also, we do not want anyone working that has large reptile collection of their own or someone that deals with reptiles avidly outside of working with ours. We do not want the risk of cross-contamination of mites or other types of viruses that exist in reptiles. The ideal candidate is someone who has experience with snakes / reptiles, however, is a small keeper / or does not own any at all and someone that does NOT currently work at a reptile pet shop. [Property work- this is to provide additional hours if you have the ability] Landscape / property maintenance: Planting of trees, creating a garden, mowing the lawn, working a weed eater, watering etc. & keeping the property maintained and clean (Any experience in this area is a plus- not a requirement) * With the addition of you, as an assistant, we will start raising rabbits as well as chickens. We will sell rabbits to locals & provide chicken eggs to sell to the public and to give away to friends and family. You will maintain the rabbits & the flock. Roughly 20-50 birds. Very simple stuff Future & misc animals: * We have a few dogs. We will ask for assistance in feeding from time to time if we are on a business trip * We also may add additional animals that you will assist with as time goes on.. ei. goats etc. Random task for upkeep of property: Different projects will come up from time to time. We anticipate working with someone that is a huge team player and is not afraid of assisting in different working situations as they arise (easy example: Helping out with fencing / random labo / bringing garbage to the dump / loading uhaul / cleaning etc. Driving: We have a vehicle you can use on the property if you don't have one. Picking up needed items at the feed store, Walmart etc will be a weekly task. We will pay for the gas if you have your own vehicle. We will not pay for gas for you to drive from your home to the property if you do not live on site. Assistance at annual reptile shows: We will be attending and vending animals at reptile shows and will need assistance in packing, setting up and vending. Customer Interaction: Minimal- most of our customers are on-line. If you are to meet customers in person, we will train you prior We WANT A GOOD PERSON that will treat our property and animals with extreme respect and care: Ultimately, we are looking for someone that cares about animals and has some time on their hands. Someone that wants to be a part of our small farm for the long run. Someone that is very "meticulous" and is a company person. Someone that is willing to put the work in to grow with us. As we become a larger and larger farm and revenue builds - we want you to grow with us. There is definitely room for advancement. Pay: (We would prefer to have a weekly set amount (weekly cash salary) agreement in the beginning of the relationship. We need to be able to gauge the amount of work you can get done and we can negotiate from there- part time is OK, but ultimately, we will need someone assisting us on the property full time) Pay: Semi-Negotiable after you are proven to be an asset! small weekly salary ($300 per week cash) to start. Possibly $15-$17 per hour as part time. We can negotiate for possible live-on site opportunity if you are the right fit and want to integrate yourself into our farm and lifestyle. NOTE: We do not want couples applying to live on the property. Sorry.
