Description
If you're an Eversource customer you've gotten your new electric bill by now with the supply rate increase. It went from 10.7¢ to 22.6¢ per kWh — more than doubling!
If you're in the same boat as me and wondering how you can possibly tighten your budget even more, you have the option to switch to a different supplier for a better rate.
There are only so many suppliers to choose from depending on your location, but the best rate I've found comes from a company called Direct Energy.
I just signed up with them for 28-months at a fixed rate of 13.6¢ per kWh. They also have contracts for 12 months, or 36 months. Which means I'll be paying significantly less than if I had just stuck with Eversource as my supplier.
Your electricity will still be "delivered" by Eversource, and if there's an outage they'll service the lines and poles as they always have. The only thing that will change is your "supplier" will be listed as Direct Energy on your bill, and you'll be paying less for electricity this winter.
Eversource could adjust their rate to go down or up six months from now, but I imagine it'll be the latter with the way things are going.
If, by a miracle, the rate comes down during the next two years there are no cancellation fees and I'll have the option to switch back to Eversource.
I have no experience working with Direct Energy yet, but I'm taking my chances. I hope it pays off. I've only gotten positive feedback from other customers here in New Hampshire.
If you decide to do the same and want to save money, using the referral code below will come with an additional benefit — we'll both receive a $50 VISA card. You'll also get your own referral code to share with friends & family once you join.
Give it some thought.
