Tickets for this dance will be sold ONLY to Hingham High School students. No guests from other schools are allowed. Tickets are NOT transferable (i.e., you can’t give your ticket to somebody else) and NOT refundable. If your name is not on the list of those who purchased tickets, you may not enter the dance. The following guidelines serve to ensure student safety. By purchasing a ticket, you acknowledge the following rules and will abide by them at this school function. It is understood that if you violate this code of conduct, you will be subject to the consequences listed below. The Homecoming dance begins at 7:00 p.m. and ends at 9:30 pm. Students are expected to arrive by 8:00 p.m. and stay until the end. Dismissal before 9:00 p.m. will be allowed only for students who provide a note from a parent. Notes may be given to a school administrator (i.e., the principal or one of the assistant principals) in advance or upon arrival at the dance. Summary of Behavioral Expectations at School Dances: 1. Students are to dress appropriately according to handbook policy and dance in good taste. 2. Breathalyzer tests will be given at the dance. Students who refuse to take a breathalyzer test will be removed from the dance and released to a parent. The school will impose appropriate disciplinary action. 3. Dances are drug-free and alcohol-free events. The following are violations of Hingham High School’s Drug and Alcohol Policy. Students (a.) using, having used, or being under the influence of a controlled substance; (b.) possessing a controlled substance; (c.) being knowingly in the presence of a controlled substance; (d.) transferring or distributing a controlled substance; or (e.) knowingly or willfully assisting another person in using or obtaining a controlled substance. 4. Water bottles, personal beverages, and backpacks will not be permitted inside the building on the night of the dance. Water will be provided. Consequences as Stated in the Hingham High School Student Handbook : Students will not possess (possession includes group possession, i.e., in automobiles), use or be under the influence of drugs or alcoholic beverages on school property or at school-sponsored events, wherever held. On first offense, the student will be suspended for a minimum of five days. A parental conference shall be required before the student is readmitted. Also, the student will be ineligible for extracurricular activities for twenty-five (25) school days. On the second and subsequent violations, the student will be suspended from all activities for one calendar year (12 months).
