Description

We are the Institute for Justice (IJ), a nonprofit organization with an office in Austin, that works alongside parents to create educational choice. We want to hear about your experience with your child’s current school, and help you with the cost of school supplies to ensure you and your children have a great start to the school year. If inflation and rising costs are making it hard to buy the school supplies your children need, RSVP here to join us at IJ’s FREE School Supply Giveaway. In addition to school supplies, we’ll have snacks and fun giveaways! Spots are filling up quickly so please be sure to sign up! “Educational choice” allows you to send your child to a school that works best for them—whether it’s their assigned public school, or a private school. But a lot of families can’t afford private school—while wealthier families can more easily pay out of pocket to expand their choices and send their children to private school. If you would like to send your child to private school but can’t afford it, opting for an “Education Savings Account” would cover the cost. ESAs are savings accounts containing funds that can be used only for educational purposes. Parents could use the education funds deposited into an ESA to send their child to a private school if they decide their assigned public school isn’t working out for them. Texas is one of the few states that doesn’t have a program—like an ESA—to expand educational choice, which means Texas families do not have the option to choose a school that works best for their child, regardless of their financial means. Sign up here to save your spot at the FREE school supplies giveaway and learn more about how educational choice can help you find a school that you and your child love.
