Join us for an afternoon of fun and fellowship at Halfway African American Cemetery, a historic site that was almost lost until cleanup began in 2020. Explore the cemetery and see cleanup progress so far. The Friends of Halfway African American Cemetery has recently incorporated and will soon be seeking 501(c)(3) status. There will be light food, drinks, door prizes, a silent auction, the unveiling of our new logo, and more! Meet the Board of Directors and learn about plans for future preservation and events. More than 400 black Hagerstonians were buried at Halfway between 1844 and 1932. We invite you to help us save this historic African American cemetery. (Rain date is the following afternoon, Sunday, Oct. 23, same time.)
