We have to know where we are headed before we can start out to get there. While many of us might think of goal setting as a boring management task, it is a tool that can be used to excite and motivate us. Setting goals that stimulate us, individually and as a team, can reduce stress and anxiety, and improve mood. As Andrew Carnegie put it, “If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts, liberates your energy, and inspires your hopes.” Students will leave class with a personal action plan that includes inspiring goals and concrete tasks to get there.
