Description

Books & Books is thrilled to partner and host an afternoon with Families Against Banning Books during the 40th anniversary of Banned Books Week. Join us in protecting the opportunity for our children to enjoy literature and to pursue their own American dream.About the Group:Much of what makes America great is the freedom to pursue our own individual fulfillment of the American Dream. Achieving this Dream necessitates having the opportunity to develop into the person that each of us was destined to become from birth. These dreams vary from person to person and cannot be completely realized from what we witness with our own eyes alone. We are also influenced by the stories of others which have been handed down to the entire world community through the authors’ writings. Many of these writings have become classics as generation after generation has enjoyed them. Challenges not yet encountered or a unique personality trait or a resolution to a new conflict…these are the very topics that many of these banned books touch upon. By reading them, millions have acquired the intellectual and emotional ability necessary to fulfill their own American Dream. In fact, we often find ourselves by reading about the struggles, successes, and failures of our favorite protagonists. Banning these books makes no sense and leaves a huge vacuum in our educational system, for it slowly erodes our freedom of choice. As book after book is banned, we begin to ask ourselves which freedom will be the next to go. We must not let books be banned, for if we do, we will be cheating our children out of their own opportunity to enjoy literature and to pursue their own American Dream. Please join us on this fight and be a FABB supporter.
