MOORESVILLE, NC — NGK Ceramics USA of Mooresville recently donated $1,000 to Iredell-Statesville Schools to buy equipment used by English as a Second Language students during testing, the school district announced.
The donation will be used to purchase earbuds with microphones for student use during this year's Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State-to-State for English Language Learners, also known as ACCESS testing.
ACCESS testing is given to K-12 students to assess progression in learning English.
"I-SS has many Japanese students that are served through our ESL department," and NGK President Gioly Ito "felt like it was important to support our students during this unprecedented time," the school district said.
The Mooresville-based manufacture makes honeycomb ceramic substrates for use in automotive catalytic converters.
