An opportunity for an ambitious, self-starter willing to bring your skills and passion for learning about a power plant. On the job training will ready the candidate for the position of Hydroelectric Power Plant Manager. The ideal candidate will bring a can-do attitude along with taking pride in their work. We are willing to train the right candidate eager to learn. All training will be provided in house. Successful candidates are capable of following up with vendors for power plant and completing task lists and day-to-day activities with owner daily. Along with the ability to “wear many hats," we need someone with a broad range of skills and a candidate that is not afraid to get their hands dirty and work directly with the equipment and tooling to solve problems. Preferred Knowledge & Skills: Experience with electrical and mechanical systems. Experience with generators Experience with hydraulics, power plant operations and the maintenance of dams, control structures, etc., helpful. Effective communications skills. Must be able to work independently and handle emergency situations as they arise. Must be a self-starter and solution-driven. Strong work ethic and proven ability to follow through. Ability to read and comprehend prints and troubleshoot relays & circuit boards. Requirements: Must be pro-active, hard-working, detail-oriented, and hands-on. Must have the ability to work 5 days per week (40 hours) plus weekends as necessary, be very flexible, and maintain an "on call" status. Available for 24/7 emergency response. While the vast majority of work-week hours will be M-F, 9 to 5, these hours cannot be guaranteed. The needs of the plant will set the schedule and no particular hours are guaranteed. Essential Functions: Works with the Plant Manager to be training and understand all of the workings of a hydroelectric plant. Assists in operating the plant controls and equipment in a manner to achieve optimum generation up-time at all times while assuring safety for yourself and the plant. Services, maintains and troubleshoots issues with all equipment and machinery as per manufacturer's specifications and the Plant Operations Manual, or obtains the necessary professional services if necessary. Interacts with supplier representatives as needed on machinery specifications and to troubleshoot problems, including assisting in soliciting bids. Maintains and troubleshoots high and low voltage systems including circuit boards. Performs maintenance of the grounds, public areas and structures in and around the compound. Assists in the preparation and submission of generation reports, and provides data required by the administrative office in the preparation of all reports submitted to regulatory agencies. Reports with the Plant Manager on a regular basis to the Operations Manager and the General Manager to review plant activities, capital requirements, and any problems or issues that may arise. Maintains and updates plant operations manuals, maintenance logs, daily activity logs, and outage history reports. Identify or address malfunctions of hydroelectric plant operational equipment, such as generators, transformers, or turbines.
