Description

Im not sure if you guys could be of any help, but Im hoping that maybe you could point me in a few directions. My partner and I have a small farm and nursery in Northern VT. Our nursery is focused on “forgotten fruit and nut trees” and herbaceous plants. We believe that a lot of old knowledge is fading away every year and we feel its our duty as the younger generation to carry on these old traditions and to keep foods and skills that people relied on for ages alive. As a Native American, I feel that we need to help reconnect people to the land and remind others that all of our people relied on the land to take care of us. We are very passionate about implementing and utilizing regenerative practices such as agroforestry, silvopasture, food forests and integrating indigenous practices that work with the land instead of against it. We love our land, however the land that we're on now we feel is holding us back from being able to implement these practices to their fullest potential. There are several limiting factors such as the access, size and topography of the land. We know there are folks out there who are getting older and wondering what to do with the land or farm that they own when they pass on or retire. We are hoping to network with someone and the greater community to connect with people in a situation like this. We don’t have a lot of money but we are honest people with the honest intention of healing the land, the community and keeping the old ways alive. If you have any information that could be of any help to us (contacts, other platforms or organizations etc.), we would greatly appreciate the help.
