Winner of three Detroit Music Awards, this exciting combo presents the authentic rhythms of Cuba with rich, jazz harmonic and original compositions written by band members. Mambo, cha cha cha, rumba and bolero are some of Afro-Cuban patterns explored. The instrumentation includes congas, bongos, timbales, guiro, claves, cowbell, saxophones, flute, piccolo, trumpet, flugelhorn, piano and acoustic/electric bass. A presentation appropriate for all ages, we also perform songs by composers such as Mongo Santamaria and Tito Puente.
