The ILX convenes the Learning Lab Community to examine learner-centered education in practice, collaboratively distinguish the learner-centered field, advance our individual and collective efforts, and be together as a national community of leaders. We invite Learning Lab Members to the ILX at Embark Education — a Denver-based micro middle school embedded in two small businesses that fosters inquiry, discovery, and engaging learning experiences. The ILX will take place September 29-30, 2022 (fly in on the 28th). On Day 1 of the ILX, we will immerse ourselves in observation and focus groups. By connecting with the Embark team, young learners, families, and community partners, we will explore the ways in which Embark learners experience their education. Day 2 will serve as a time for our visiting group to meet with the Embark team to exchange observations and learnings. We will gain insight into the model’s prevailing paradigm, how equity and the five elements are expressed, and benefit from rich dialogue that stretches everyone's thinking about effective practice, model, and system design. The registration cost covers each person's participation in the full 2-days, dinner on September 29, lunches on September 29 and 30, and printed materials.
